On November 1st, FONTAGRO successfully hosted the webinar \u201cToward a Sustainable Future: Innovations in Irrigation and Fertilization Management in Quinoa,\u201d in collaboration with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and several regional universities, including the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) \u2013 Argentina, the National University of Loja (UNL) \u2013 Ecuador, the National Agrarian University La Molina (UNALM) \u2013 Peru, the Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) \u2013 Chile, the Austral University of Chile (UACH), and the University of Talca (UTALCA) \u2013 Chile.<\/p>\n

The event focused on sharing and promoting sustainable practices in irrigation and fertilization management for quinoa, a crop of great economic and nutritional importance in Latin America. Experts from these institutions introduced the project \u201cSustainable management of irrigation and fertilization in quinoa,\u201d which aims to develop innovative digital tools to help producers better understand the interaction between water and crop yields.<\/p>\n

One of the highlighted tools presented was a Fertilization Calculator, designed to assist farmers in accurately estimating nitrogen requirements, a critical factor in optimizing quinoa growth. These tools will be available free online, facilitating access for farmers, agronomists, technicians, and students interested in improving agricultural practices.<\/p>\n
